Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s)

Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) are now a legal requirement for both residential and commercial properties for sale or letting. The Certificate provides an energy rating and banding for properties, information on carbon emissions and recommendations for improvements.

Beals have a team of qualified Energy Assessors providing both residential and commercial EPC’s on properties throughout southern Hampshire. For commercial properties, we also cover adjoining counties.

The responsibility for providing an EPC rests with the owner or leaseholder seeking to sell, assign or sublet their interest.  The EPC must be made available free of charge to all prospective purchasers or tenants.  Failure to do so would make the landlord liable to a fine from the Local Trading Standards Officer of up to £5,000.

The reports also contain recommendations as to how to improve the energy efficiency of the property and achieve a higher grading.  This should improve saleability by making the building cheaper to run and with a lower carbon footprint.

Please follow the link to our sister company CEA – Commercial Energy Assessors where further information is provided on Commercial or Non-Domestic EPC’s.
